I don’t want this to just be a “Thank you for being a wonderful client/business buddy/stakeholder. I appreciate your support over the past year. Sending you my best wishes at Christmas.” kind-a blog.
2022 has been the third year in a row of discombobulation for me. 2020 and 2021 were both C affected and so, I was thinking that 2023 would be the year I calm down and return to some ‘norms’. But then, for some, as un-yet completely clarified reason, I decided to move homes, step into some study, participate in some refugee mentoring and dip my toes back into doing some teaching – yes for those that don’t know me well, I’m a qualified primary school teacher.
So, after years of running my own business, supporting others running their businesses, single-parenting, living with another human, it’s all been turned on its head in the past year and it has been very discombobulating for me. I’ve struggled to do those things that had brought me so much joy – reading and comedy. I’ve taken to too much true crime podcasting and watching too many serial killer docos on Netflix. Yes, I am one of ‘those’ women that can go to sleep listening to true crime – sad, but true.
But, of all the things that have been in my orbit that have kept me grounded and focused and brought me joy and happiness, it truly has been my clients. 2022 has seen me support people to increase their income – double, triple and quadruple, in one case – slash their expenses and set their business profit forecasts for the next one, two and three years. I’ve worked with people to set their monthly intentions, decide what parts of their business can stay and go, focus on their goals and to be truthful with themselves about where they feel they are at in the business journey, and to have worked with people deep diving into their businesses to decide the direction they are taking it into in the future. The absolute sheer joy that this has brought into my life is immeasurable and I am so very grateful that I get to continue to do it in 2023.
So, to those clients that have let me into their business lives this year, thank you, you have no idea how you’ve kept me grounded and brought me so much joy. To those people that I have sat next to, been in the same zoom room with, or been introduced to at gatherings, you got my juices flowing about your business and so thank you for letting me blurt out my thoughts and ideas to you.
I do hope that this 2023 Christmas brings all the joy and happiness that we all so deserve and I thank the universe every day that I get to be connected to strong, independent, brilliant people each and every day. Have a wonderful break and I look forward to ‘blurting’ some more in 2023.
